Ain't No Stoppin' for Janine and Caleb!

by 7/26/2010 10:14 AM

This lovely couple braved the 2-ft of snow storm on February 6, 2010, tied the knot and got on TV! What an awesome way to have a memorable wedding! ^__^

Janine was kind to share more pictures from her wedding day and I am so ecstatic to see them! The way the pictures were styled remind me so much of Anthropologie's catalog...so vintage and yummy! (OK, so yummy is not the right term, but that's exactly how my mind sees it...Hehehehehe....).

Seriously...how could you NOT love this shot??

I love doing Janine's bouquet because it is not your typical round shape or even cascading...it was CRESCENT! How exciting is that! ^___^

We put blue hyacinths (that we strung together so they'll "droop"), light blue hydrangeas, red mokara orchids, red tulips (you can't see them per se because we "altered" them to look like ranunculus instead! Hehehehee...now, that was awesomely fun!), purple wax flowers and green hypericum berries. I LOVE IT!! I can't believe it was back in February when I did this bouquet and I still giggle just thinking about how exciting it was making it! ^___^

For her bridesmaids, we put blue hydrangeas, purple wax flowers and green hypericum berries.

Hi Kerith! Yes, that was Kerith, one of my lovely brides! Kerith and Janine were roommates! And I got introduced to Kerith and Janine by Kate! ^____^

For the guys' boutonnieres, we wired the hyacinth blooms, put them together with lily grass (Caleb's got wax flowers to make his more special ^___^).

I feel very blessed to have been a part of this lovely couple's special day. It really made me realize that there's nothing stronger in this world than love.^_^

The snow storm only reminded me of all the sweetness and joy at the end of that day. And I simply couldn't ask for more. ^_^

Red Roses for Shiho and Chris

Shiho is one of my out-of-town brides whom I got to meet only once. We clicked right away and when she showed me the picture of her bridal gown, I instantly fell in love with it! It has intricate lace and is indeed a perfect gown for her! So one of the things that I immediately suggested was to wrap the bouquet in lace ribbon and I'd say it worked out very well!

Her wedding colors are deep royal blue and red. Love the regal combination! However, it can also pose a challenge in that Shiho particularly emphasized that she does not want to have her wedding looking like a 4th of July celebration (which is highly understandable). She was very wise to choose the royal blue as the dominant color by way of her bridesmaids' dresses and red as the accent. The only white would be her bridal gown.  So as you can see from the group picture above, the color balancing works out great!

One of the highlights from this wedding was the wristlet corsage that I created for her mom. Shiho showed me the headpiece that she was planning to wear and that just inspired me so much so that I decided to "replicate" the look on the corsage. The corsage was created from rose petals that I rearranged and on the middle, I placed red hypericum berries. I thought it looked modern and elegant and I simply love it! So this became THE corsage that I thought (and will teach) at my DIY workshop(s) because it's so easy and simple, which is perfect for DIY brides.

Though I didn't have any pictures of the reception...I just had to mention it because it's just a super cool idea: Chris and Shiho made ORIGAMI PAPER ROSES as their guest table centerpieces and cake decor! Took them a lot of hard work, but I betcha it'll look sooooooooo cool!! I've seen pictures of these online before.

If you want to know how to do Origami Roses, please visit this link or you can also watch it on youtube here. I am sure there are many other websites and/or youtube videos for these, but I thought those two are pretty good. ^_^

Shiho and Chris:

ご結婚おめでとうございます!

Congratulations on your wedding! ^_^

Thank you so much for the honor!

I truly appreciate it. ^_^

Many happy wishes always!

A Travel Inspired Wedding for Judy and Jamie

by 3/19/2010 4:51 PM

When I got a call from Jamie beginning of this year, I knew that I had a good feeling about this couple. Well, first of all, it's quite rare that the groom gets to handle the flowers. ^_^ And sure enough, when I met both Judy and Jamie at the Bouche Production bridal show in Willow Grove, we immediately had a great connection!

This couple inspired me so much when they told me the places they have travelled and when they wanted to incorporate that into their wedding decor theme, I was like "YES!". ^_^ AND...to top it all, their venue is the Merion Tribute House! YAY! We definitely love that mansion and had a great time there when we did Joy and Jon's wedding.

So I showed them this one super cool idea of "submersed table number" and I was so excited when both of them liked it! For all the DIY brides out there, this idea is certainly easy to do! I got the idea and instructions from this awesome book "The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects for Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding" by Khris Cochran (ISBN-13: 9781561589647). The "submersed table number" idea is listed under "Floating Table Number Centerpiece". PS: I know when to give credits when due. ^_^ The slight difference is I used a picture clip holder instead of looping wire. I think it's easier. ^_^ We then added the hydrangeas and sprinkled mixed raw and brown sugar around each centerpiece.

Now, that's just half of the tables. As for the rest of the tables, we did tall centerpieces using a mix of hydrangeas, stocks, delphiniums and larkspur.

Now here comes the best part...for me at least. ^_^ For the place card table, I suggested that we made this the main "tribute" to their travel adventures. I had too much fun with this and I loved everything about it. ^_^ Judy supplied the luggages (she got these from Home Goods), by the way. The idea was to have an arrangement overflowing from the smaller luggage that was stacked up on a bigger luggage. Then I went around shopping to get the garden angel statue, the Indian elephant, and other knick knacks. I was so happy that I got to use a little bit of scrapbooking to make the shadow box for them. The other cool thing is...they actually printed the place cards as if they were passports! Sweet! ^_^ This definitely makes it to top 3 of my favorite works!

As for the personal flowers, from the start, Judy emphasized how important it is for her to have simple design for her bouquet. She loves mini calla lilies and so that's exactly what we did for her bouquet, just a bunch of mini calla lilies with french braided blue ribbon stem wrap. It fits her so well! Love it! ^_^ And for her bridesmaids, who decked espresso brown dresses, we went with simple light blue hydrangeas bouquets to match their sashes.

Although the weather that day was a little nerve-wrecking, this lovely couple was so blessed when the rain stopped just in time for their outdoor ceremony. About 30-mins after their ceremony was over, it was pouring cats and dogs! It's almost like the Heaven decided to hold all the gray clouds just for them. It's so amazing to witness this miracle! ^_^

I really did have a blast doing this wedding and am forever grateful to Judy and Jamie for this wonderful opportunity to showcase my works.
